Riiiiiggghhhttt!

Sorry Isle fans, you can score , but c'mon. The argument that the Pens "top heavy" talent is going to be hard to manage is a reach. Everyone on the Pens team has a role, and they play that role perfectly. Even if that role changes from game to game. Not only that, but "they can score" too.

I agree that its going to be a fun series to watch, style wise. However, I don't think it goes past 5 games...6 at most.

the ref is a pens fan? That's your argument? You can't possibly think the isles are better than the pens and they need the refs. Face it, the islanders are so overmanned that the refs could be with islanders and they still have very little if any chance. So please, please don't make yourself look stupid by using the ref argument

You probably shouldn't comment if you don't know what you're responding too. Canadianpensfan is a ref (moderator) here.

The "riiiiiggghhhttt!" Part was trolling. The rest was just a response to a poor argument.

Why are they even talking about Fleury. If Fleury has a breakdown like he did last year it doesn't even matter. Vokoun is not Brent Johnson. In order for the Islanders to have even a remote chance, they have to play 5 on 5 and hope to get a powerplay here or there. If they take penalties it's going to get even uglier really fast.

Some of us admire the Pens for doing a rebuild the way it's supposed to be done. And all those who talk about the "most hated team", I think it's much more respect than hate. For me it is at least.

I'm with Mick from the previous thread. Between the INEVITABLE and ever present Pens trolls and kencam (ie; Mayhem/Sky) from the Newsday site, I'm done! Can anyone recommend a site to actually DISCUSS hockey vs. engage in a facking pissing contest?!?!?

So the Isles can score goals is what they say. The Pens can score goals too, in fact better than anyone in the league this year. They can also prevent goals and did so at an amazing rate up until they clinched and started to lay off the physical game a bit to close the season.

I've watched a lot of the Isles this year and here's something to think about:

They are one of two playoff teams that doesn't have a positive goal differential. They have the worst goals against of any playoff team, going against the highest scoring team in hockey. Worst five on five differential of any playoff team. Penalty kill isn't good going against the second best unit in the league. Below average faceoff team. Also not a lot of playoff experience on that team. This is not a good match-up for them as the Pens' strengths play right into their weaknesses.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just stating the facts. Trust me, I know ANYTHING can happen in the playoffs! I witnessed what happened in 93....and this is why they play the games.

Good luck, it should be an entertaining series!

penguins earned the #1 pick once... that's it. they made smart draft decisions and found their fair share of gems. not saying that Crosby picked didn't help them, but the idea of a team just drafting 2-3 guys and getting immediate success is laughable.

wings have done it 22 years in a row bandwagon boy, without having to tank and hit the lottery many years in a row. the pens and the hawks tanked, got high picks and drafted high in the lottery, what a tough way to rebuild a team, a poo flinging retarded monkey could of made the malkin, crosby, fleury picks.

This is laughable.
The Islanders never drafted top 4 multiple times in their rebuild and they never purposely tanked, but you know who did? Andm The only gem the Pens found was Letang.

lol your arrogance is pathetic. bandwagon boy? should I call you unemployed man? and when did we tank? i'm confused. if you look at our ownership situation and our payroll during those times, you'll get educated on the matter.

jesus Christ, some of you wings fans act like you own this league...

it is, but most pens fans are oblivious to it. Ask a pens fans if they jumped on the bandwagon after the crosby draft, you will rarely find a yes answer.

it's laughable about the fact that the penguins won the cup for more reasons than one or two drafts? call me crazy, but shouldn't EDM have cups now based on that logic?

just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean that they are a bandwagon jumper.

Stranger things have happened- these are two teams of men who get paid to play the game; this isn't the US junior team against the Russian all stars, like in the Olympics in 1980. That said- it's not likely that we win this series. It would have been more likely that we beat someone like Boston, Washington or Montreal in round one. Far more likely.

As one Penguins fan mentioned, we're basically going to have to not go to the penalty box AT ALL if we want to have even the slightest prayer. That's not likely either, considering that one time when we played in Pittsburgh this year, Andrew MacDonald got a delay of game penalty for blocking a shot .

Of course, for stating facts, I will be called a whiner....and yet I won't be the one b*tching about Snow, Wang, Brooklyn, the uniforms, and anything else that comes to my mind after we lose in five games, unlike some people in Islanders land. I understood three weeks ago that in order for this bunch to have its first taste of playoff success on its way up the ladder, it was not only going to have to make the dance, it was also going to have to avoid Pittsburgh like the plague.

It managed one but not the other, and as a result, it is going to learn a valuable lesson over the next two weeks about matchups and playoff positioning. It's all part of the learning process, in my opinion. This team is only going to get better for the next three to five years, so I'm not worried- just a little disappointed that the motivation to avoid Pittsburgh wasn't hammered into their heads enough to have them earn two more points during the season.....and I've already said what I have to say about WHY I think that happened, and what needs to occur to fix it....no need to beat that further into the ground.
